Functional Movement Technique

For centuries, humans have worked on our feet with very active lifestyles. Unfortunately, as a modern society we are tending to move less and less, and as a result we are getting sicker and sicker. With the advent of the desk jobs, smartphones, televisions, and computers, we are sitting down more than ever before. It is estimated that Americans are either sitting or sleeping 17 hours per day.

 

Our bodies were not built for that type of sedentary lifestyle, and it is starting to take a toll. Sitting 6 or more hours per day makes you up to 40% likelier to die within 15 years than someone who sits less than 3 hours per day. Even if you exercise for at least one hour a day, your risk is still higher if you sit for long periods in the day. Functional movement technique teaches people to move better. When people move better, they tend to move more.

 

            We use a specialized tape, and when applied to the skin in a very specific manner, it has a microscopic lifting effect underneath the skin and between the many layers. This allows the by-products created by inflammation to be removed more quickly. We use a unique kinesiology/sports tape that supports while allowing full range of motion. It is used to decrease pain, decompress tissue, and provide stimulus that improves body awareness. This technique also uses corrective exercises to normalize human movement before increasing training or exercise demands.
